Grants & Scholarships

Funding and donations allows Community Foundation Snowy Valleys Region with opportunities to run small grants programs and contribute further to our ongoing scholarship program. Funding also assists us to run programs during times of need, such as during disasters and drought.

Local organisations are encouraged to get in touch with us to discuss their needs and how Community Snowy Valleys Region may be able to assist.

We also administer bursaries on behalf of various individuals, institutions and organiastions.

Small Grants Program

The Foundation is re-invogorating our Small Grants Program. We are currently redeveloping the Grants program guidelines and will update our information as soon as we have finalised the program.

Scholarships and Bursaries Program

Friends of Tumut High School

Community Foundation Snowy Valleys Region has provided scholarships, bursaries and awards to youth and school students over many years. These are generally awarded at end of School Awards Days.  Selection processes for recipients are managed by the relevant school in liaison with representation from our Board.

Bursaries are announced at the schools awards end of year celebration while some are provided during the year on an as needs basis.

This program supported by former students of Tumut High School. In 2024, $1500 was made available for equipment or items of benefit to the students. This program is not available for individual students.

Application is made to the Foundation by Tumut High School and is approved by Community Foundation Snowy Valleys Region and a representatives of the Friends of Tumut High. Contact Tumut High School for further information.

MH Colyer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Michael Colyer who was killed in action in the World War Two conflict in Egypt. Many Tumut High School students have been recipients of this scholarship as demonstrated on the honour board in the entry to the school.

The Guidelines  - current offer is $1000.

  • The scholarship is available to tertiary students who are descendants of service men or women including peacekeepers who have served Australia.

  • Application forms available from Tumut High School are to be completed and submitted by the students direct to Community Foundation Snowy Valleys Region.

  • Assessment will be in consultation with the school with the final decision made by the Foundation.

The Sue Mac Memorial Bursary

The Sue Mac Memorial Bursary was created in memory of a great art teacher Sue MacDonald who taught visual arts for several years at Tumut High School and inspired many students to create and appreciate art in so many ways.

The Guidelines - The bursary of up to $250 is available for final year visual art students to purchase items for their final work e.g. materials for painting drawing etc mounting or framing their major work, developing printing of photography and other items in consultation with the visual art teacher.

Application to made direct to Community Foundation Snowy Valleys by the student.

Assessment to be made in consultation with the Tumut High School Visual Arts Department. Final decision to be made by the Foundation.

Carol Lane Bursaries

These bursaries are being offered by Carol Lane’s children Rohan and Chelsea in memory their mother. As a volunteer, Carol gave generously of her time over many years teaching and coordinating gymnastics and rhythmic  gymnastics for students of all ages helping them to realise their potential in state and national competitions.

The Guidelines - Current offer is $250 each to the Clontarf and Stars Foundations - funding can be made available for individual students (1 or more) on an as needs basis for expenses e.g. excursions, foot boots, school uniforms.

Applications to be made to Community Foundation Snowy Valleys by the school and not the students.
