Workplace Giving
What is Workplace Giving?
A program that allows employees to donate to Community Foundation Snowy Valleys as an eligible charity directly from their pre-tax salary.
Employees make regular donations through their pre tax pay which reducing their taxable income and means they don’t need to claim a receipt at tax time.
Donations are directed to the Community Foundation as a tax deductable charity.
Employers provide the employee with information on the Community Foundation Snowy Valleys Region and our Workplace Giving Program to provide an understanding on how they can make a difference for their community in “Giving where they live”.
Some companies match employee donations to amplify the impact.
A $5 donation per week per employee adds up pretty quickly and can make a pretty powerful impact.
CFSVR welcomes your organisation and employees to be involved in our Work Place Giving program “To make a difference”.
How Workplace Giving works
It is pretty simple really:
The Foundation comes to talk to your Business / Employer and gets them to sign up so that your payroll system includes us as a pre-tax deduction.
The Foundation will then come and talk to your employees to encourage them to donate.
The employee then agrees to donate a set amount each pay period.
An example is the $5 cup of coffee - $5 comes out of your pre tax pay so in reality you only pay $3.40 as you have saved the taxable portion of the donation. Instead of waiting until tax time to get the tax deduction, it automatically happens each pay.
The Employers deduct the donation from the employee’s pre-tax salary and forward it to the selected charity.
The Benefits
For Employees: Provides a convenient, impactful way to give, fosters pride in the workplace, and offers tax advantages.

For Charities: Generates a reliable funding stream, access to employee skills, and stronger partnerships with businesses.
